Teen Filmmakers Leads Effort to Raise $4000 for Project Hope for Greece

A sixteen year old budding filmmaker named Vasili Manikas and his brother Dimitri gathered a group of young men— and their families and friends— to make a short film, whose box office proceeds led to raising $4000 for Project Hope for Greece. Thymos, the team’s first film, was described as a story of a person who is lost and trying to find his way home, the film represented the struggles of thousands of new Greek immigrants to Canada who are fleeing the economic crisis in their native country and the staggering unemployment rates in Greece.

Winemaker Steve Kriaris Pops $3000 with Thalia Wine

Steve Kriaris donated $1 from every bottle of his renown Thalia Wine that sold in a single month. He made sure bottles sported neck tags with an “I heart GR” pin attached to every one sold throughout more than 100 retail outlets in Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia. Kriaris’ Kolonaki Group in Toronto sold more than 3000 bottles and even experienced a 30% increase in sales during the month of the promotion.
