The Greek America Foundation, in partnership with Square Films, is proud to bring the documentary film “Border Souls” to communities throughout the United States and Canada for special screenings.
“Border Souls” tells the story of humanity and light, during one of the darkest times in recent Greek history when tens of thousands of refugees passed through small towns and villages, fleeing war back home for the safety of Europe.
Not all were welcoming but many Greeks, including the Elder Christodoulos and dozens of his faithful supporters, shared their generosity and solidarity with the isolated refugees, illuminating the capacity of a crisis-ridden society to change the world with fewer words and more action.
“If a man is drowning in the river,” Christodoulos asks hypothetically, “Do we ask what religion he is first, before helping him? This is against the natural order of humanity, as well as Christianity.”
The 90-minute long documentary is in Greek with English subtitles and makes a great film to screen at a church community’s film night or cultural event. The film is available for a nominal screening fee.
To schedule your screening, please contact Darden Livesay via email.
Upon scheduling, we will share a step-by-step guide on how to publicize and implement your event, with posters, photographs and other publicity materials.
