The Greek America Foundation proudly presented $10,000 to SOS Children’s Villages in Greece via the Reaching for the Stars Foundation in Toronto at their 6th annual gala.
SOS Children’s Village is one of our designated charities that are included in our #ChildrenOfGreece campaign.
Our donation was made to Reaching for the Stars Foundation, which specifically supports three families at SOS Greece, as well as an infant center in Athens.
The donation was made thanks to the generosity of our members and supporters from throughout the United States and Canada who have supported Project Hope for Greece via direct donations, Facebook birthday fundraisers and organizing fundraising events.
Founded by Toronto native Voula McLaughlin, the Reaching for the Stars Foundation has grown to become a critical supporter of families in SOS’ network in Greece.
The RFTS Foundation has been fully transparent with their financials and shared all requested details with us, in order to fulfill our responsibility to our donors.
Voula offered prominent acknowledgement to the Greek America Foundation for our gift, as well as an opportunity to meet with SOS Greece country director George Protopapas, and Kosta, a young teen who is under the care of SOS.
“Your support has given me the opportunity to have dreams,” Kosta said at the annual Reaching for the Stars gala in Toronto where the Greek America Foundation presented its gift.
SOS Greece country director Mr. George Protopapas expressed his gratitude to the Greek America Foundation and invited its board of directors to visit their facilities in Greece. A fruitful discussion also took place about incorporating SOS Greece into our new Greek America Corps volunteer program.
Our #ChildrenOfGreece campaign is supporting six accredited children’s charities in Greece. You can support our campaign by donating your birthday or becoming an Ambassador of Hope to help improve the lives of tens of thousands of children in Greece.
